Baseball (Position Player) - Mike Hall (Manitowoc, WI/Lincoln) - The junior hit .333 and had 40 chances at shortstop without an error in eight games this week. Hall was five-for-six with a home run, two stolen bases and four RBIs in the Pointers' 22-5 win over St. Norbert College. For the week, Hall was 12-for-36 at the plate, with two doubles, two home runs, two stolen bases and six runs batted in. Baseball (Pitcher) - Eric Schlender (Baraboo, WI/Baraboo) - The senior pitcher improved his record to 5-0 on the season with a 7-2 victory over UW-La Crosse. Schlender pitched seven complete innings on Saturday, allowing just one earned run and four hits. He struck out three Eagle hitters. Softball (Position Player) - Jill Van Wychen (Kaukauna, WI/Freedom) - The senior outfielder set a new NCAA Division III record by hitting safely in her 36th straight game. She broke the record with a three-for-four performance against UW-River Falls, marking her third straight three-hit game. Van Wychen now has a hit in every game this season and 82 of her last 88 games. She batted .516 for the week going 16-for-31. She had a triple, 11 runs scored, six RBIs and eight stolen bases in nine games this week. Men's Track Events - 4x800 Relay Team - Matt Legel (Crystal Lake, IL), Steve Gillespie (Green Lake, WI), Adam Bucholz (Thiensville, WI) and Jesse Baumann (Verona, WI) had a strong performance at the Drake Relays with a fourth place finish in 7:35.83. Their fourth place was the highest finish of any Division III participant. Men's Field Events - Jeremiah Rolfs (Iola, WI/Iola-Scandinavia) - Rolfs provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships in two different events at two different meets on consecutive days this weekend. On Friday, Rolfs placed 16th in the discus among mostly Division I competition at the Drake Relays with a throw of 162' 8''. On Saturday, Rolfs traveled up to the Loras Invitational and placed fourth in the shot put with a toss of 50' 10''. Women's Track Events - Jenna Mitchler (Kaukauna, WI) - The freshman ran on both the Sprint Medley Relay and the Distance Medley Relay at the prestigious Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa. Mitchler ran an 800 meter split of 2:18 in leading the distance medley team to a fourth place finish. In the sprint medley, Mitchler ran a split of 2:17, a new personal best, as the team finished ninth. Women's Field Events - Melissa Seefeldt (Valders, WI) - The junior set a new personal best in winning the hammer throw at the La Crosse Classic. Seefeldt won the event with a throw of 49.12 meters, improving her provisional qualifying status for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships. |
