Pointer Athletes Head to NCAA Indoor
Track and Field Championships
UW-Stevens Point will be represented in five men�s events and four women�s events as the Pointers travel to Ada, Ohio this weekend for the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships. Noah Eschenbauch, a Rosholt native, is the highest seeded Pointer entering competition. Eschenbauch is seeded third in the weight throw with a qualifying toss of 60 feet, five inches. Waupaca native Craig Gunderson is seeded sixth in the 400 meter run with a qualifying time of :49.16. Also qualifying for the meet on the men�s side are Aaron Carley in the long jump, the 4x400 meter relay team of Gunderson, Matt Buska, Matt Legel and Ben Treptow and the distance medley relay team of Buska, Treptow, Jesse Baumann and Steve Gillespie. The relay teams will be forced to test endurance as well, as the events will be held within a half-hour of each other on Friday night. On the women�s side, Jody Butkowski is the Pointers� top-seeded qualifier. Stevens Point native qualified seventh in the triple jump with a leap of 38 feet, two and 3/4 inches. In addition, Becky Lebak and Megan Lundahl are each seeded eighth, in the 5,000 meter run and weight throw, respectively. Megan Craig is enters competition as the ninth seed for the Pointers in the 1,500 meter run. Competition begins Friday morning and continues through the finals on Saturday evening. Check out
