Matt
Peetz (Spring
Green, WI/River Valley) � The sophomore designated hitter hit .462 (six
for 13) with two doubles and two RBI's as the Pointers went 3-1 last week.
Peetz also had two walks and a hit-by-pitch to finish with a .562 on-base
percentage in the four games. He went 3-for-3 in the second game against
UW-Stout on Sunday. Peetz has 15 hits in his last 30 at-bats. Baseball

Bill
Verbrick (Appleton,
WI/Xavier) � The senior right-handed pitcher recorded a win and a save on
Sunday against UW-Stout. In the first game, he pitched a six-hitter,
allowing one run and striking out 11. Verbrick then entered the second game
with two on and none out in the ninth innning, but forced a double play and
strikeout to earn the save. He set UWSP's career strikeout record, recording
the 223rd strikeout of his career. Softball

Amanda
Sparks (Elcho,
WI/Elcho) � The junior first baseman went four-for-seven with a double and
three RBI's in two victories over St. Norbert. She had a two-run single in
the 8-5 first game and scored the go-ahead run, finishing three-for-four in
the 6-4 game two win. Sparks has hits in 14 of her last 30 at-bats. Softball

Katie
Knoedler (Mosinee,
WI/Mosinee) � The sophomore pitcher allowed one run and four hits over
three innings of relief to pick up the win in the second game against St.
Norbert. She had one strikeout and one walk. Men�s

LaLonde (Park
Falls, WI) � The senior runner placed third at the Loras Open Invitational
in Dubuque, Iowa. LaLonde narrowly missed the four-minute mark, finishing in
4:00.51. Men�s

Rutowski (Greenfield,
WI) � The senior provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships in the
pole vault. Rutowski cleared 4.63 meters (15� 2.25��) to finish third
at the Loras Open Invitational in Dubuque, Iowa. Women�s

Becky
Lebak (Burlington,
WI/Burlington) � The senior runner placed 12th overall in the 5,000 meters
at the prestigious Drake Relays. Lebak�s time of 17:27.65 was the second
best among NCAA Division III competitors and automatically qualified her for
the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Women�s

Amanda
Nechuta (Mosinee,
WI/Mosinee) � The freshman eclipsed the NCAA III provisional qualifying
mark in the shot put at the La Crosse Classic. Nechuta�s toss of 13.26
meters (43� 6��) placed her fourth overall. She also threw the hammer
a personal record of 34.12 meters (111� 11��) to finish eighth. |
