2006 Dugout Club

Dear Fans of Pointer Baseball,

On behalf of our coaches and players, I would like to thank you for the interest you have taken in our program.  We would like to invite you to play a significant role in our success by becoming a member of our Dugout Club.

For many years, the Dugout Club has served as a booster program that assists our baseball team with many of the various expenses that we incur each year.  Last year, our Dugout Club was able to raise over $5,000 to help fund our annual spring trip to Florida, and we hope to build on that great support again this year.

In 2005, the Pointers established the most successful season in its 50-year history, winning a school-record 38 games, capturing the conference tournament championship, and finishing one game away from the College World Series.  Along the way, the team tied or broke 16 school records, including the record for most home runs in a single season, which was also the 5th highest total in the history of Division III baseball.

Senior Steve Wiczek led the nation in hits, home runs, and total bases, earning him the title of National Player of the Year by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.  Junior Chuck Brehm, became the first Academic All-American in the history of the program, earning ESPN The Magazine / CoSIDA Third Team honors.  In addition, nine players received All-Conference recognition, with seven of those nine also earning All-Midwest Region accolades.

Ranked #4 by Baseball America and #6 by Collegiate Baseball in the preseason national polls, the Pointers hope to enjoy another outstanding season.  They begin their regular season schedule on March 18 as they take on Western Connecticut St as part of a 10-game road trip in Port Charlotte, Florida.  Following their spring trip, the Pointers will lead off their conference schedule on April 1-2 with a four-game series at home against UW-Platteville.

We hope you consider becoming a member of the Dugout Club it is a great way for family, friends, and fans to show their support for the team as they embark on another exciting season.  We appreciate the time you have taken to support our program, and we hope to see you at the ballpark this spring.  Go Dawgs!

                                                                                Best wishes,

                                                                                Coach Bloom
