Zimmermann and
Kempf to Pitch for Eau Claire Express of Northwoods League
Two of
UW-Stevens Point�s top pitchers will pitch in the Midwest�s top collegiate
summer baseball league as sophomores Jordan Zimmermann and Travis Kempf have
each been signed by the Eau Claire Express of the Northwoods League.
Zimmermann,
an Auburndale native, was the WIAC Pitcher of the Year while posting a 5-4
record and 2.42 ERA with 92 strikeouts and 19 walks in 78 innings pitched.
Kempf, a Kewaskum native, will pitch in Eau Claire for the second straight
summer. He is 5-2 with a 3.48 ERA for the Pointers this season.
Both pitchers turned in strong performances in last weekend�s NCAA Division
III regional to help the Pointers reach the Division III World Series. Kempf
allowed no earned runs in a complete game win over St. Thomas and Zimmermann
had a school record 15 strikeouts in the title game win over Ripon.
The pair is
among just three Division III players on the team�s 26-man roster. The
Express open their season on Thurs., June 1 against the Wisconsin Woodchucks
at Wausau�s Athletic Park. |
